The author as a twenty-year old junior noncommissioned officer in SS-NORD, prior to attending the SS-Junkerschule Bad Tölz. The author's strongly built, well- camouflaged billet in the Karelian taiga, 1944. Forward observers of SS-Artillery Regiment 6 in northern Karelia, 1942. The author served in this regiment throughout the NORD Division's battles in 1941 and 1942, until he attended the SS-Junkerschule at Bad Tölz. Following graduation and commissioning as an infantry officer, he returned to NORD to assume his new duties in SS-Mountain Infantry Regiment 12. (Author's collection) |
